The condom ripped - condom use and the risk of pregnancy

If a condom breaks during sex and you’re not using another contraceptive method, there is a risk of getting pregnant. If this is not something you’re ready for, don’t panic. There are measures you can take to prevent the risk of an unplanned pregnancy, such as an oral emergency contraceptive.

Condoms are a 98% safe contraceptive method, almost the same rate of effectiveness as the pill, if used properly. Also, they protect against STIs (sexually transmitted infections). It’s essential that you’re using a contraceptive method every time you have sex if you’re not trying to get pregnant, or if there is a risk of STIs. By following these tips, you’re helping to ensure that you’re practicing safe sex.
